As a school district we get together before the beginning of school and do some skits. This year, like last year, the high school had the best skit. Yes, I am biased in my opinion, but we did well. We danced to don't stop believing and held up a sign that said we believe 75 x 12. 75 x 12 is what we need to get in order to reach AYP, which is what the state of Arizona uses to measure the success of a school. Last year was the first time in 3 years that the school did not reach AYP which has a lot of people both surprised and dismayed. In fact, a record number of schools failed to reach the goal last year which was 70 x 11, or in other words 70% of students should have met their learning goals for 2011. The number goes up every year until 2014 when the number will be 100, which I think will mean that every school in the state will then be considered under performing if the legislation doesn't change.
75% is a good goal and I think we will get it this year.
Anyway, to happier news, lets see some pictures from the skits, especially our superintendent dressed in drag.
