Our Memphis Adventure so Far

Our Memphis adventure is going slowly.  I am very glad that we made it at all.  Our flight was going to land after our connecting flight was supposed to take off.  American Airlines had to put us on a Delta flight.  Once we were in Atlanta we had to run across the airport in order to make it to our next flight.  It was a little crazy.

Memphis was very cold when we landed.  When we got to the car rental place we found out that our reservation had been accidentally canceled.  It was a little nerve racking but we were able to get our rental car, which is super nice by the way, and make it to our hotel on Beale Street.  That night we walked down to the Hard Rock Cafe and ate our first and last real meal of the day.  That was the exciting day.

Memphis, the city of Elvis and BB King, a happening place, if there is no snow.  A winter storm struck Memphis yesterday and the entire city has shut down.  Pamela and I drove around yesterday and could not believe how difficult it was for people to drive.  To us, being used to icy conditions and dirt roads, driving around was EASY.  The roads were not bad at all.  Yet there was accident after accident.

Every time we attempted to go somewhere and do something the location would be closed.  Pamela and I tried to go shopping but almost all the stores including an entire mall were closed.  We at least were able to eat at Shogun, a Japanese restaurant.  This morning we were supposed to go to visit a local high school, but then they cancelled school on us and suggested that we enjoy Memphis.  But with a lot of things being shut down and the city streets being deserted it has been kind of hard.

We are going to attempt going out again, we'll see what happens.  Pamela and I have seen some very nice neighborhoods.  Here's hoping for the best.  We have reservations for BB King's tonight and things are melting.  Here we go!
